Welcome to
Plumpton Green
Two miles north of Plumpton lies Plumpton Green, where the main area of population is located.
Plumpton Green is situated on the north side of the South Downs mid-way between Lewes and Ditchling and ten miles inland from Brighton.
With a population of just over 2,000, Plumpton Green has a very active community with numerous clubs and societies covering a wide range of sports, activities and interests.
Plumpton has a main line railway station with frequent rush hour based services to Victoria and London Bridge, with Lewes and Eastbourne in the other direction.
Plumpton Green has its own primary school, church, garages, pubs, butcher, hairdresser and village general store including the local post office. There is also an excellent village hall which was built in 1995 just behind the village green. It also has a playing field and pavilion with 2 football pitches in winter and cricket square in summer.
Plumpton is probably best known for its race course and, to a lesser extent, Plumpton College, formerly Plumpton Agricultural College.
